This acrylic painting, Saint Rita, is my attempt to reinterpret the visual language of medieval portraiture through a contemporary medium. I was inspired by how medieval portraits were not meant to be realistic likenesses, but symbolic representations of spiritual identity, devotion, and moral character.

Agatha of Sicily is a painting born from place, memory, and resistance. I chose this figure of the Etna island not only for her deep roots in Sicilian history, but for what she represents today: strength in the face of violence, and solidarity with women whose bodies have been wounded and reclaimed.

This oil painting of Saint Lucia, Martyr was conceived as a dialogue between tradition and personal interpretation. My intention was to honor the visual language of the early Renaissance portrait, while allowing space for a contemporary, surreal disruption that speaks to symbolism, sacrifice, and spiritual vision.
